International Forge Welding Workshop
02 – 07 June 2020
It is our pleasure to announce that in the summer of 2020 the Hungarian Blacksmith Guild will organize an International Forge Welding Workshop. Following several enquiries of the past few years, we have decided to organize a workshop dedicated to forge welding, this time only for participants from abroad, with the aim of sharing all our collected knowledge at this field, with an attention to all possible details. This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn forge welding and to practice its techniques that in old times were generally used and today are essential to artistic forging. Our aim is to preserve and perfect this highly valuable blacksmithing technique beyond borders.
Our smithy has enough space for 8 participants, who will be supervised by 2 senior masters of the Hungarian Blacksmith Guild during the 6-day workshop. Each master will work with 2 groups of two,at 4 workstations, to ensure an intense and tailor-made learning process and sufficient practicing opportunity.
Honorary guest of the workshop: mag. Walfrid Huber, internationally acknowledged master of artistic blacksmithing, featured in the film titled The Devil’s Blacksmith.
Participants must have basic blacksmithing skills to qualify for this workshop. The language of the workshop will be English, therefore participants with standard English skills and some blacksmithing vocabulary are welcome.
The tools and materials will be provided by the Hungarian Blacksmith Guild, please ensure to bring along workwear and any personal protective equipment that you wish to use during the workshop.
Registration is closing on 2 May 2020.
Registrations are accepted and confirmed on a first come, first served basis.
